The Campus for the Great Smoky Mountains Trout School is located on Sorrells Creek Trout Farm, a 7 acre aquaculture facility, surrounded by the Shining Rock Wilderness. Come and relax among the beautiful mountains while listening to the clear, cold water flowing through the farm. Our "classroom" is private wilderness, but also with the amenities of an enclosed classroom with restrooms and protection from the elements where you will learn the behavior and habits of trout. Class sessions will include slides and video footage of local trout behavior and hands-on identification and capture of some of the trout's favorite local "foods". Learn how to cast and how to "read" the water while fishing in the demonstration stream, an example stream of what proper trout management, and trout habitat can be. Some class sessions also include fishing time on the school's privately managed stocked streams.
